Ever since the industrial revolution, when many in the west were for the first time bombarded with unnecessary objects, people have come to lead lives that are shaped in great part by their material possessions. Stuff. Some of which is valueless, some of which has sentimental value, and some of which has a special collector value. 'Valuation' is about the latter; items which for one reason or another are sought after and collected. Like all things in the world, these items are valued based on what someone is willing to pay for them. Some items are worth mere dollars, and some worth hundreds of thousands. 'Valuation' is about items that will make people say, 'I had one of those', or ask 'What is that?', 'How could those 4 items be worth that much?' And, it all begins with the board of 16 (you'll know soon enough). All someone has to do is look at the 'big board' with items from every corner of the world of collecting and big $$$ and their curiosity will be peaked.
Below you will first find a show synopsis, followed by a full episode sample script with lots of visuals. I'd strongly recommend downloading each from scribd (click on links at top of doc) and printing them off. They're a lot more fun to read this way. And, I would simultaneously scroll below the script to see high res images of all the items featured. It's good to know what it is exactly that you're valuing!
Once you read through all of this, I hope that you'll agree that 'Valuation' is as exciting a concept as I feel it is.
I think with it's broad appeal, it is the type of show that could easily go into mass syndication, shot in different formats for countries throughout the world. And, there is a near never ending supply of neat 'stuff' to include, so it can go on and on. I can even see spinoffs, using the same format with other forms of 'stuff' (food, fashion, real estate and so on) or even other collectible content shows that are more or less specific in their range of content. The possibilities are endless.
*the only note I would make regarding the synopsis and script is regarding the first part of the show. I feel that it is an interesting jumping off point and establishes the 3 players as having 'earned' their spots, but is non essential to the game. I think it's inclusion/exclusion would be based entirely on the running time of the show (might fit into hr format, but not into 1/2 hr).
